James Delacorte, an eccentric elderly collector of rare books suspects someone stealing from him and wants Charlie, the librarian, to take inventory of his collection. Shortly after getting down to work, Delacorte is found dead in his library. Charlie enlists the help of his cat Diesel to find clues and solve the case. The cat-and-mouse game intensifies after the disappearance of a valuable copy of Edgar Allan Poe and a second murder.
