The history of Urdu language and literature is replete with literary movements and attitudes, but two in particular have had a significant impact on and enhanced Urdu language and literature. Although the Aligarh movement was mostly focused on education, it also made significant contributions to language and literature, helping to shift the course and momentum of Urdu language and literature. Although the progressive movement began with the intention of bringing about change, creativity, and uniqueness in literature, it eventually turned its focus to bringing about a political revolution and establishing an ideology-based society. This book "Urdu ke kuch Adeeb: Funn aur Shakhsiat" contains a few essays on the laureates of this progressive movement.

اردو زبان و ادب کی تاریخ کے بے شمار ادبی رجحانات و رویوں اور تحریکات و دبستان کے درمیان دو تحریکوں نے اردو زبان و ادب کو متاثر اور مالا مال کیا۔ علی گڑھ تحریک بنیادی طور پر تعلیمی تحریک تھی، لیکن اس نے زبان و ادب کے دائرے میں قدم رکھا اور اردو زبان و ادب کی سمت و رفتار بدلنے میں ایک یادگار رول ادا کیا۔ جب کہ ترقی پسند تحریک ادب میں تغیر و تبدل ، جدت و ندرت پیدا کرنے کے مقصد شروع کی گئی تھی لیکن آگے چل کر ایک سیاسی انقلاب لانے ، ایک مخصوص نظریے پر مبنی معاشرے کی تشکیل کرنے کے کام میں مصروف ہو گئی۔ اسی ترقی پسند تحریکی ادب کے کچھ نامور ادیبوں کے فن اور شخصیت پر لکھے گئے چند مضامین اس کتاب میں شامل ہیں۔
