Walking with God in Selflessness: The Book of Genesis - A KJV Verse-by-Verse Study, Volume 2: RESTORATION OF THE NUCLEAR FAMILY UNIT by Lucas J. Shiloh, M.D.
The restoration of the nuclear family unit is the great object of the gospel and foretold by the prophet Malachai: " Behold, I will send you Elijah the proph- et before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: " And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fa- thers..." Malachi 4:1-6.
At Jacob's Well Jesus referenced the transition away from a centralized form of worship back to the family as it was in Eden: "20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." John 4:20-24.
Each family unit was to be a school and a church where the religion of the Bible could be practiced separate from the world. Here every person is to become the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). Each nuclear family unit in turn was to become a member of God's invisible church above by reflection of the Divine Selfless Character. The Great Church of God is invisible and eternal tran- scending the ages: "5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 2: 5.
