Nothing is as it Seems
After a bizarre encounter with a mysterious creature costs
him his home and his profession, young blacksmith Kaen
finds himself under the apprenticeship of Ral, an eccentric,
gunslinging mercenary with incredible, supernatural
powers. Under Ral's tutelage, Kaen soon discovers that
he too possesses the same powers, those of a warlock.
Meanwhile, deep in the slums of Day's End, a mysterious
figure known only as Harbinger begins to amass a rebellion
to usurp the corrupt Magistrate of the Commonwealth,
Allerius Corbrey. Ral, however, suspects that Harbinger
may be in league with a powerful demon and that his
rebellion is nothing but a farce to mask his true ill intentions.
Tolerating no threat to his rule, Magistrate Corbrey tasks
Kaen and Ral with hunting down Harbinger and his
minions and putting an end to the rebellion.
But amidst the choking smog and soot-covered streets
of Nocteshire, nothing is as it seems. Kaen enters a
world of magic, politics, and betrayal as he and his
teacher attempt to unravel a plot to destroy the city
and unleash an ancient evil upon the world. To stop
this threat, Kaen must confront powerful adversaries,
otherworldly creatures, and even his own past.
Defeat means the end of all living things.
