A wise kid once said is my journey through adolescence. I started writing poetry in 2013 at the age of 13 years old. I wrote this book because as we get older we tend to forget the intensity of childhood. This book is filled with the all the sass of being a young girl, as well as the trauma and drama of real-life experience, dealing with young love, heartbreak, social status, suicide, and depression, alongside black unity and white supremacy, all from the eyes of a minor. This book contains many of my original poetry from ages 13-17 when I felt open mic audiences were the only ones listening. I'm well aware of how easy it can be to brush off young tears and call them dramatic or ignore a young voice and assume it is ignorant. I think it is important to never forget that the youth feel, the youth listen and the youth understand what is happening around them. Although we may not all see the world through the same lens it is important to acknowledge each individual's thoughts and feelings. I also wrote this book for and would like to dedicate it to anyone who can relate to any of the pages. I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed writing A wise kid once said.
