Humanity has all but been destroyed in a whimper from a deadly virus. Those unfortunates who caught the virus but didn't die, are now being called "Ghouls" as all they can eat to survive is human flesh. In this post-apocalyptical hell-scape, the protagonist known only as "Doc", has to struggle with the selfish savagery of humanity's actions, that makes "monsters of men", juxtaposed with his morality and commitment to easing human suffering. After becoming infected, he becomes a brutal experiment to a clandestine government laboratory, learning he is essentially immortal―and totally dangerous to the few remaining humans. He and those like him can not be allowed to live. By luck, one of the scientist in the Lab helps effect his escape by sacrificing his own life. The scientist gives him all data and information on the "Ghoul Virus" and why it was released. To honor the man's dying request, Doc decides to return home to London, meeting up with a group of youths along the way, who he invites to return with him where he will tell world the truth. On their journey, Doc begins to understand that his transition, the loathsome monster he he feared he would become, was actually evolution expedited. Throughout the journey, this crisis of conscious plagues him; the juxtaposing reality of Man's insane domineering cruelty and the "monster he is becoming" against his strong moral convictions. Which will win in the end; the Moral Human or the Monster Ghoul!
