God's fire is not for the purpose of creating pain in us. It is a purifying fire. The flames only burn off those things we don't want anyway... pain, torment, emotions from bad experiences, etc. Going through the process brings to us insight as to why we react the way we do. It brings clarity to the situations we find ourselves trapped in. Often this leads us to direction - how to handle similar situations in the future and/or shows us a specific plan or purpose for our future. These lessons guide us through the process of God's fire by careful study of His Word.
