Reid Taylor is a young bass player, trying to find his place in life and in the world, when his girlfriend breaks up with him because she sees him going nowhere. Miserable, he hears about an audition guitarist Barry is having for band members. He gets a ride there with a guy he's never met, Clay, a drummer with a mean, competitive streak. On the way over Clay is driving wildly, too fast and all over the road, trying to scare Reid and risking their lives. When they get there, Reid is like, I am DONE with this guy. Reid gets into the band -- but Clay does too! There are guys in rock 'n roll who are wild, scary, dangerous. Clay is one of them and Reid knows it. But when Reid tries to warn Barry, Barry says, "You're like a shark. You cruise along out of sight and then one day you pop up and bite somebody's head off! Is that it?" Clay is getting more and more out-of-control and Reid sees it's only a matter of time before something terrible happens. When Reid falls in love with Kristy, a beautiful girl he meets at one of the band's gigs, he's concerned that the person Clay will accidentally-on-purpose get killed is going to be her! Reid's efforts to keep her safe are blocked by Barry because their music is starting to get attention. Will Reid be able to protect his friends in the band -- and the woman he loves?
