The sealed letter is opened, revealing a secret Depression-era romance between Sam's great-aunt and a slain member of the notorious underworld organization, Murder, Inc., as well as exotic clues leading to a hidden cache of Syndicate funds stolen by the doomed couple decades ago. Students, teacher and priest together embark upon an exciting hunt for treasure hidden beneath some of the historical landmark locations of Brooklyn. But they are not alone, pursued by the surviving member of Murder, Inc., a Chinatown crime lord eager to settle old scores and regain the riches and honor that had been stolen from him decades ago.
