English summary: This volume offers a modern and easily understandable introduction to the political philosophy of Plato. It assumes that this philosophy can be found not only in the Republic and from the Middle Dialogues onwards, but that the key principles are already present in the Early Dialogues and (despite all of the discontinuities in Plato's later work) that they lead us towards the Middle and Late Dialogues. An expertocratic understanding of politics, according to which the true politician requires political expertise and the cardinal virtues, was formed in the Early Dialogues and was clarified and further developed in the Republic, the Statesman and the Laws. For Plato, the main goal of political expertise is nothing less than the happiness of the whole community in which the souls of citizens are made as good as possible. Therefore, politicians need to be philosophers because only they posess wisdom (sophia) and other virtues and can therefore not be corrupted by power. An important part of this is the significance of Dialectics and Elenctics for the betterment of the soul and thus for the politike techne (the art of politics), elements which are often overlooked in relation to Plato's political theory and which are frequently demonstrated, especially in the Early Dialogues. Wichtig hierbei ist die Bedeutung der Dialektik und der Elenktik fur die Seelenbesserung und damit fur die politiketechne, die in Bezug auf Platons politische Theorie oft ubersehen und insbesondere in den Fruhdialogen haufig demonstriert werden.
