What unites Europeans? The future of European unification depends on the answer to this question. Historically, Europe has been essentially shaped by the Christian tradition. Admittedly, this tradition has become paler. But it still contains decisive resources for a European identity that unites the whole of Europe. Europe needs a Christian renaissance that rediscovers the Christian tradition in order to think it further for today: How does Christian faith relate to the sciences, how to the so-called European values, how to diversity in modern societies? How can freedom be thought differently than narcissism and egoism, how a reference to the world beyond mere availability? And how must Christian churches renew themselves?
