Stories of spirit possession come to us from earliest recorded history. Modern science typically has looked on these reports as the product of ignorance and superstition. Modern science may be wrong. It may, in fact, be changing its mind. Louise Ireland-Frey, M.D., was working as a hypnotherapist in the latter years of her medical career, when quite suddenly she became involved with a phenomenon that she could only understand as spirit possession. Already interested in psychic functioning and metaphysics, she plunged into this new world, discovering that "attached" entities occur quite commonly in patients experiencing mental, emotional, and physical distress.
