Ruth Wallace has a big family. A really big family. She's the fourth of seventeen children, about to be nineteen children, all considered by her parents to be 'God's blessings.' When she was just a baby, they converted to a fundamentalist Christian church, and what followed has been the only life Ruth can remember. Since she was very small, she had extra duties as a girl in the household. She cooks, she cleans, she makes sure things are ready for use by her brothers and father. She As the eldest daughter, now that she is eighteen she has new responsibilities: find a godly husband and procreate. When her brother introduces her to a potential husband, she thinks perhaps he could be the one, but that doesn't last long.
