Joy (Olivia Colman), a driven and stubborn woman dedicated to her career as a solicitor, finds her future derailed when she falls pregnant and subsequently gives birth. Rather than put the child up for adoption, Joy decides to leave her newborn with her sister, hoping to allow the child to grow up within the family.
