Garland Scarsdale is driving home to see her family for Christmas when her car goes off in a ditch in an unfamiliar small town. The handsome stranger who owns that ditch has no idea that his offer to help will lead to a holiday stranded together in the snow. Paul McKellar has retreated to a rental cabin to finish his book. While he's on a tight deadline, he's also trying to forget about the holiday. His mother's surprise death happened just a year earlier, and the holidays will never be the same. But the more time he spends with Garland, the more he realizes there's plenty left to celebrate. Once the holidays are over, though, they'll be separated by hundreds of miles.
