His accomplishments include graduating summa cum laude from Tufts University in 1958, receiving a certificate in Chinese Translation and Interpretation from USN (1958-1963), and receiving his Ph.D. from Princeton in 1969. He has taught at Georgia State University and Ehime University. William has one daughter, Arielle. He currently resides in San Diego.
