Scott Price feels like the biggest nerd at Concord Academy, a former office building that he refers to as Misfit Academy. The school is a small private school in South Florida, a supposed safe haven for misfits from Kindergarten to twelfth grade. The harsh punishments from the overly dramatic principal, along with the actions of her favorite student, a bully named Wolfgang, bring stress to the students and faculty at the school. During his sophomore year, Scott's life seems to step into Bizarro land. Ashley, a new girl, constantly distracts him, and he can't help but act like a complete idiot around her. The school bully becomes unbearable, and one of Scott's friends is arrested for assault. At home, his normally calm parents begin arguing and talking about divorce. Life is not what it used to be. Misfit Academy is a young adult novel that reads like a diary. There are no vampires, werewolves, or other mystical creatures, just an inner look at real life drama.
