It is the object of this book to try to make a fair statement of the real de mands of Mural Painting, and to endeavor to sug gest its real value. The book is based upon six lectures delivered in March, 1912, at the Art Insti tute of Chicago, under the auspices of the Scammon Foundation, but since then, a nearly equal amount of entirely new matter has been added.
