Photoferroelectrics reviews a relatively new area of solid-state physics: nonequilibrium electronic processes in ferroelectrics and pyroelectrics. It highlights Soviet research largely unknown in the West. The monograph covers theoretical and experimental work on the influence of photoexcitation on the physical properties of ferroelectrics. pyroelectrics and other nonlinear electro-optical materials. The thermodynamic and microscopic theory of photoferroelectric phenomena is presented. A considerable part of the book is devoted to the anomalous photovoltaic effect and photorefractive effect in ferroelectrics, and their applications in holography and optical storage.
