Stylistically, the Hustlers Brass sextet sticks pretty close to the classic New Orleans brass-band playbook, but it's the material they tackle on SECOND LINE SOUL that makes all the difference. Instead of the usual brass-band repertoire, they interpret classic R&B tunes like War's "Cisco Kid" and Jean Knight's "Mr. Big Stuff," investing them with Crescent City brass power. Throughout, there's a loose, raw quality to their performances that makes you feel this is what you'd be hearing on the streets of New Orleans, not in some Big Easy tourist trap.
