When we choose to be intimate with God, we can be honest, transparent and intimate with people, too. The mask comes off - we have nothing to hide. When we realize that God knows every single thing about us - good and bad - and still loves us, we don't have to try to be anything we're not. Why isn't this intimacy more important to us than anything else in life? I think we do explore that in this study, but I think the most important first step is simply asking ourselves that question. Why do I want anything but that? What is so appealing about "fitting in" and sacrificing intimacy with God?
