Women played a major part in World War II. Besides being factory workers building planes, ships and ammunition, many worked in the secret service. Some worked in unlit, drafty offices decoding messages, while others worked out in the field of espionage. Actress Marlene Dietrich sang and entertained the troops, but she also worked secretly with the Office of Strategic Services. Julia Child was active doing secret work for the OSS. Tennis champion Alice Marble and Josephine Baker, along with many unknown women carried on clandestine work to help bring the end of WWII to a speedy close.
