Traditions are defined as the long-established action or pattern of behavior in a community or a group of people, handed down from generation to generation. More than often, the youth of the new generation spell traditions as trouble, trying as much as possible to escape the bounds that tie them to their roots. Here is a story of a young woman who endeavors to break away from her Chinese family's traditions in Jeannie Yee Davis' The Accidental Columnist. Having just finished college, any graduate would have been excited to begin a career in the field she majored in, unless of course, she secretly hated it. This is Sandy's story, a twenty-two year old graduate of Accounting. As she attempts to postpone the inevitable until the end of summer, she finds herself in a situation that every other young woman of Chinese descent dreads-matchmaking.
