Humor, action, super heroics, warfare and even more comedy were all facets of the Sparky Watts comics. Sparky Watts was working his way through college when he met Doctor Static and agreed to be the guinea pig for Dr. Static's new invention, the cosmic ray machine. The experiment transformed Sparky into the world's strongest man, as well as giving him the ability to fly and making him practically invulnerable. Along with his pals Slap-Happy, the man with the world's largest feet, and a diminutive and mischievous Chinese lad named Yoo-Hoo, Sparky would battle Nazis, monsters, gangsters and contend with various nutty predicaments created by Dr. Static's most recent invention. Sparky Watts was created by Gordon G. "Boody" Rogers in 1940 and originally was published as a newspaper strip. When Boody was drafted into the military during World War Two, Sparky Watts strips were reprinted in comics by Columbia. After Boody completed his service he went on to script new stories for the comics. Sparky Watts appeared in BIG SHOT COMICS, the first issue of the short lived series THE FACE and in ten issues of his own series. Although he never wore a costume Sparky Watts may have been the very first parody of the superhero genre. The stories were incredibly well drawn, dynamic and very, very funny. These stories are a product of their times and there are images and comments that some people may find offensive. This book was compiled with the best images currently available. That stated, these stories are from comic books that are seventy years old. The best efforts have been made to make the pages as enjoyable as possible but not every panel is perfect and some allowances for the age of the books need to be considered when judging the overall contents.
