Nick Carter is as famous a detective as you could want. He is an investigator, although not an official member of a law enforcement agency. This independence lets Nick collect information to solve crimes by talking to witnesses and suspects, and searching for physical evidence in ways police departments cannot. Nick is also an expert witness in court, and has testified often about their findings. This time, however, he is a bit up-staged by his clever assistant!
