The text shows how the French 'Agronomes' of the period were heavily influenced by their appreciation of developments in the English agricultural revolution, broadening the investigation of a field opened up by Friedrich Wolters in a section of his Agrarzustande und Agrarprobleme in Frankreich von 1700 bis 1790 (1905).
