Paul earned his wings from the Euro- NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training program and was selected to fly the F-15E "Strike Eagle." Later in his career, he transitioned to the F-35 as an instructor. In total, "HAZE" amassed over 1500 flight hours in fighter aircraft including more than 400 in combat.
