Kailani Ivar is an eighteen-year-old witch on a mission that she wants to sabotage. It should be simple enough, accept the mission the Council of Elders has given Kailani, do as told and move on with her life as normal; but Kailani's life has never been normal. Her other option is to say no to the Council, which never ends well, but to do so would also give up her one chance at returning to her childhood home and finding out what really killed her parents. So Kailani decides she'll do things her own way.
