Previously known for making desert-like psychedelia as a solo artist and as one half of , guitarist shifted to glacial electronics in the vein of with his 2014 release . Three years later, he released a cassette titled which was composed using the Yamaha DX7 synthesizer as well as synthetic voices and analog tapes, resulting in some of his most complex work to date. continues in this direction, taking inspiration from 's work with FM synthesis. The result is a continuously flowing 31-minute work which organically progresses through layers of weightless drone and controlled washes of white noise. Alternately soothing and disorienting, the album's warm, glowing synths are gradually spiked with wavering, panned static. At times it approaches the sense of dread prevalent in 's more doom metal-inspired moments, but there's always light that shines through. The entire album is simply an immaculately composed, engaging work which subtly alters the listener's consciousness. ~ Paul Simpson
