A baby is sold for a magnificent diamond. Later, as a young woman, her life is endangered because only she knows where to find it. Life on the Skeleton Coast is one of hardship and a continuous battle for survival. The isolation and desolation of the geography augments her desire to be left alone yet as an overcomer, her life touches all those around her. Yinni is the sole descendent of five generations of Hermanns, each of these a single child family, each of these abandoned by the father at some stage.
