Inspiration for Yukon Gold was derived from watching the TV series "Yukon Gold". Curiosity was generated when observing mining operations in unconsolidated sediments originally thought to consist of glacial deposits in the valleys that were being mined. After research on the geological aspects of the areas being mined, it was determined that fluvial sedimentary deposits were largely responsible for placer gold deposits and that Pleistocene glaciation sediments left behind from ice sheets covered the deposits, protecting them from erosion. From this geological research, this information was compiled into a small booklet type publication. Chapter 1 begins with compositional studies of placer and lode gold from western Yukon and its implications for lode sources. Chapter 2 continues the lode gold sources with a discussion of gold sulfide quartz veins in metamorphic rocks, a source for placer gold deposits in the Livingstone Creek area, Yukon. Chapter 3 presents composition of placer and lode gold and an exploration tool in the Stewart River map area. Chapter 4 presents the geology of placer gold deposits in the Indian River area. Chapter 5 develops a new method to identify previously unrecognized geochemical and morphological complexity in placer gold deposits in western Yukon. Chapter 6 discusses placer geology and prospective exploration targets of the Sixtymile River area. Chapter 7 presents early Pleistocene glaciation and implications for placer gold deposits in Back Creek, Mount Nassan area, Yukon. Chapter 8 ends with the presentation with sedimentology of Pleistocene deposits associated with placer gold bearing gravels in Livingtone Creek area.
